Have you ever listened to someone who speaks really well? Who gets to the point? Who makes the point clearly? Who doesn’t waste your time and makes the message valuable? It is SO nice when that happens, right? It is so refreshing when a presentation or a conference call or an important conversation is efficient and clear.
Now think about yourself. When you speak well, what do you think the audience is thinking? Sure, they are probably thinking, “This person speaks well.” But are they thinking more than that?

When you are presenting or leading a meeting, and you are able to get to the point, and make it valuable and simple and clear, your audience is thinking lots of good things about you. Based on our client feedback, your audience will be thinking things like “I like the way he/she thinks,” or “His/her mind is really organized,” or “He/she makes things easy for me,” or “He/she is really smart.”
When you speak well, your audience will attach all sorts of other judgments to their opinion of you, all of them good.
The bottom line is that speaking and presenting well is a skill that will help you brand yourself in many positive ways. The person who can get to the point and not waste other people’s time is seen as organized, intelligent, strategic, and yes, a good speaker.
