Simple Advice: Bring Positivity, Every Day

Keeping your energy level up all the time is hard. We all get tired. We all get frustrated. We all get sick of our work/colleagues/friends/selves. And when we are any of these things, our productivity suffers.

One of the best quotes I have ever heard (well… more of an attitude than a quote) is that positivity is a choice to be made every morning. The obvious corollary then is that being negative is also a choice. When we are in a negative mode, we are less productive, we are less fun to be around, people won’t want to follow us, people won’t be persuaded or influenced by us… the list goes on. No one wants to be around a negative person. Your abilities as a communicator will be directly connected to your outlook and your energy level. Positive people communicate positively. Negative people communicate negatively. People are drawn to those who exude positive energy and bring passion with them to work everyday.

This is not always easy. We all have our bad days and bad stretches, including me. We have had stretches here at The Latimer Group where the business is booming, and everything seems great. And we have those stretches where business slows and you wonder if it will ever turn around. But no matter what mode your business is in, it is so critical to bring the same energy and passion every day. When things go badly, being negative about it will not change anything. It will only make it worse. But regardless of whether things are going great or going poorly, your best chance each and every day to do well is to bring positive energy and passion into the office.

Have you heard this advice before? Of course you have. It’s simple and obvious. But it is easy to forget sometimes, especially when you are IN one of those more difficult periods. So, based on the assumption that at least SOME of you are in a tough mode right now, I share the simple advice and reminder that being positive is a daily choice, and the more often you make the choice for positivity, the more likely you are to get into a good stretch of productivity and success.

Have an awesome day.

Does your team:
– Take too long to make decision?
– Fail to ask for what it wants or needs from you?
– Make things too complicated?
– Deliver unconvincing or disorganized presentations?
