Attention business leaders… every once in a while, it is really healthy to pause, look in the mirror, and examine if and how you have changed and evolved. We are all evolving all the time, in varying ways and at varying speeds. We are all always evolving.
But the real learning from that evolution often requires that we pause and consider how we have evolved, and furthermore, whether our evolution has been positive, and has matched the circumstances of the moment.
The last twelve months have certainly produced some unique circumstances and an enormous amount of change, in so many ways.
But when was the last time you paused, and really examined how you have changed in these last twelve months? Have you taken an inventory of the ways you have adjusted and evolved your style of leadership, of communication, of client service? And has it been enough? I ask, because if your style is pretty similar to the way it was one year ago today, there is a decent chance that your evolution has not matched the circumstances of the moment.
Think about it this way:
- Does your team work and interact sufficiently differently than it did at this time in 2020?
- Do your clients or customers operate sufficiently differently than they did at this time in 2020?
- Do your clients or customers need different things from you than they did at this time in 2020?
if your answers to these questions are anything close to “yes,” then the ways in which you must lead your team and communicate with everyone around you surely needs to have evolved over that same time frame.
For most of you, I am sure you have evolved in many ways since February 2020. Some of you have certainly evolved a lot. Some of you have certainly evolved not nearly enough. A few of you have probably evolved not at all.
Which group are you in?
Think about it. Evolution is always necessary. Especially when the world is changing rapidly around you.
Have a great and safe day.
