Expand Your Leadership Vocabulary

While Dean enjoys a little vacation time with his family, we’ll revisit some of The Latimer Group’s most popular posts. This is a great one for #LeadershipMonday. Hope it’s a great week. ~The Latimer Group

I came across something worth sharing with you, that I think will help you refine your leadership vocabulary.

If you want to be a good leader and set a good example for your team, the most important six words you can utter are “I admit I made a mistake.”

If you want to be a good leader and motivate the people around you, the most important five words you can utter are “You did a good job.”

If you want to be a good leader and build a sense of ownership throughout your team, the most important four words you can utter are “What do you think?”

If you want to be a good leader and make people feel good about helping you today, the most important three words you can utter are “If you please…”

If you want to be a good leader and make people feel good about helping you again tomorrow, the most important two words you can utter are “Thank you.”

If you want to be a good leader, the most important word you can utter is “We.”

If you want to be a good leader, the single word you should avoid most is “I.”

Good luck!
