Ask anyone who performs at a high level: athletes, dancers, singers, etc. They all prepare and practice their skills the same way. They break their skill down into smaller “sub-skills,” then practice each one individually, then put them all back together, and their overall skill level has improved.
The same is true with communication. “Great communication” is a big topic — a big skill to try to master. But if we break that down into smaller sub-skills, improvement becomes much easier.
The 4 communication sub-skills we identify in our workshops are Assessing your current communication opportunity, Building your Message, Documenting your communication, and finally, Delivering your message. When you break your communication down to those four sub-skills, and practice each sub-skill to the point of mastery, then overall communication becomes more polished!
