Exploring Your Personal Brand

Exploring your personal brand helps you identify your strengths and your unique contribution to your organization.

Last week I had the pleasure of teaching personal branding at a Women’s Leadership Conference for one of our clients. It was an incredible event—women from across the country gathered to share experiences and learn together at an annual retreat. Like the sun rising over the horizon and reflecting on the Atlantic, this workshop gave us time to reflect on ourselves.

Personal Branding is an introspective process that challenges people to explore their unique strengths and the impression that they leave on every interaction. During this conference, we had intense sessions; short in duration, but not in substance. The room was abuzz in conversation as women eagerly discussed their personal brands with long-time colleagues, business acquaintances and new friends. The enthusiasm and the open, honest discussions that took place throughout the day were inspiring.

At the end of the day, one participant stood up and shared her story.

“When you explore your personal brand, you begin to learn what’s important to you, and what your passion is,” she began. “Once you find it, you’ll know.  And there’s no stopping you when you discover it. You’ll want to share your story with everyone you meet. Don’t stop searching until you’ve found your passion. Show your brand, share your story. Empower the people around you.”

When you dedicate time to your personal brand you’ll find confidence. When you show congruence between who you are and what you do, it is empowering.
