Dean M. Brenner, President
Dean founded The Latimer Group in 2002 and continues to lead the group today. Dean is a recognized expert in clear and powerful communication skills and he has coached and trained thousands of executives and professionals across five continents and in many industries.
Dean has written two books. His first book, Move the World: Persuade Your Audience, Change Minds and Achieve Your Goals was published in 2007. His second book, Sharing the Sandbox: Building and Leading World-Class Teams in the 21st Century was published in 2012.
From 2004 through 2012, Dean served as the Chairman and Team Leader for the US Olympic Sailing Program. He led two Olympic Teams, at the 2008 Games in Beijing and the 2012 Games in London. Dean is also a well-decorated athlete, and has won seven national and five international championships in his sailing career.
Dean earned a BA in English Literature and Government from Georgetown University, an MA in English Literature from the University of Warwick, England, and an MBA in Finance from The Olin School of Business at Babson College. He lives in Wallingford, CT with his family. (Read more about Dean)
Amy Fenollosa, Director of Learning
Amy comes to The Latimer Group with a rich background in Adult Learning and Leadership Development. After earning a Master of Education degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, she conducted research in Organizational Behavior at Harvard Business School to study the effectiveness of Executive Education. She co-authored the paper “Relevance and Rigor: Executive Education as a Lever in Shaping Practice and Research,” published in 2007 in the journal Academy of Management Learning & Education. Amy has worked as a consultant with several Massachusetts companies to help improve their leadership education practices. She has been a curriculum consultant and instructional designer, and developed and delivered leadership training initiatives. Additionally, she spent eight years working at EF Education in Cambridge, MA, where she was Director of Professional Development. While at EF she created new management training programs, introduced a selective leadership training program for emerging leaders, and established a professional mentoring program. Amy also served as Executive Director of the Guilford Fund for Education, a non-profit educational organization that promotes innovation in education.
Amy lives in Guilford, CT with her two young sons. She is an avid runner and enjoys biking, skiing and spending time with her family. She is an active volunteer, focusing her efforts on supporting children affected by cancer. (Read more about Amy)
Whitney Sweeney, Director of Client Relationships
Whitney joined The Latimer Group in 2008 as one of its first full-time employees. Since 2008, Whitney has served in almost every capacity within the company, now serving as Director of Client Management. Although that is her official title, Whitney’s responsibilities reach far beyond client services. In addition to overseeing all of our client relationships, Whitney coordinates all aspects of our coaching and training workshops and manages the production of content on behalf of The Latimer Group. Because of the breadth of her experience and her vast knowledge of all things related to the firm, Whitney is the first person our clients contact whenever they have a question, big or small.
Whitney received her BA in psychology from the University of Vermont in 2005. Prior to joining The Latimer Group, she worked at a PR firm in Connecticut. Whitney is a resident of West Hartford where she lives with her husband and her dog Jack. When Whitney isn’t working, she is actively involved in the community, and spends much of her free time volunteering with The Junior League of Hartford, Freshplace food pantry, and other organizations. Brett Slater, Chief Social Media Officer
Brett has been a critical business partner of The Latimer Group’s since January 2008. He manages all aspects of our social media communications and actively participates in the crafting and creation of our marketing voice. Brett’s duties with us include managing all of our online content on all of our sites, producing our podcasts and ensuring we have a consistent and powerful social media voice.
Brett is the founder of Slater’s Garage Ads & Audio, a media development company that helps small businesses put a clear voice to their marketing. Brett holds a B.S. in Advertising from Boston University and has over 20 years experience in the media industry. When not working on media projects, he can usually be found working on his golf game. He currently lives in Wiscasset, Maine with his wife Kelly. He has a 13 handicap.
